I cannot believe it’s already almost summer break. Seriously, it’s almost June already! With summer fast approaching, teens and tweens may be wondering what they can do during the school break. Luckily, KPL has you covered with fun programs and activities geared specifically towards teens. Check out some of our offerings below and let us be a part of your summer plans!
The Southwest Teen Space will also be open 3:00-6:00pm Monday through Friday for the summer. Bring your friends! Hang out in a cool, air-conditioned space, play some video games or Roblox, enjoy board games and puzzles, get crafty, watch a movie… We have so much to do here! Banish summer boredom and come hang out with us!
Come hang out at the Uptown Library and make a cool glow jar to decorate your space with. Whether you want it to decorate your room with soft glowy vibes, pretend you’ve got a fairy in a jar like Link, or create a Dungeons & Dragons prop, this is sure to be a critical hit!

Okay, yes, I was cheesy with the title, but I promise these are super cool. Using sharpies and rubbing alcohol, we are going to make gorgeous tie-dye and designs on some simple cotton bandanas! Have a plain shirt or pair of white canvas shoes to dye? Bring ‘em too! It’s a super fun and simple technique.
We’re going to be doing this outside in front of the Southwest Library, so make sure you are dressed for the weather and bring along a water bottle. If the weather turns sour, we will head inside to the Teen Space. Please note this program is open to teens only.

Pop over to the Northside Library to turn a plain coaster into a majestic piece of space with ALL the glitter and sparkles. It’s sure to be a whole galaxy of fun!

Get your doodle on at the Uptown Library! No matter what sort of artistic experience you have, come work on a big collaborative art piece for the Uptown branch, learn some new doodle techniques, and let your creativity flow.

Did you know we have tons of cool tech toys here at the library? Come play around with something new! Create a sculpture with 3Doodler pens, code a maze for an Ozobot, or make a stop motion movie. I personally love the 3D print pens - if you haven’t tried them out, take this chance!

I know we’ve all seen the rise of Kandi bracelets and bracelet trading, especially with the Eras Tour (#Swiftie). It is seriously so fun to make a bunch of cool bracelets to rep your favorite bands, songs, and to share with friends! Make some matching bracelets or make your bestie a new one to proclaim your friendship. Bring your friends to the Uptown Library to make some fun bracelets, and trade with each other!

That’s right, we’re bringing back Anime Club for the summer! Each month, come hang out in the Southwest Teen Space with other teens, watch an episode or two of an anime, talk about your favorite anime and manga, and enjoy anime-themed activities. We might even have Pocky and other snacks… You’ll just have to see!

Are you a crafty teen? Do you want to come work on your current projects with other crafty teens? With the new Teen Craft Club at the Southwest Teen Space, you can do just that! We won’t have a specific craft available, but we do have lots of supplies like yarn, beads, pens, and more. Bring in your current WIP, something you want to start, or come grab something from our art cart and get crafty! Sometimes it’s just fun to hang out and knit with friends, you know?
