What KPL items in the Adult section were checked out the most in 2025? We did the math, and now we're sharing each location's top 20 with you!
"Wait, Miss Amy Rae. Are you sure these are the top 20 most popular items at each library?"
By one very specific way of calculating "most popular," yes!
"Then how did you calculate it?"
I made lists of the individual items that were checked out most often by people who were actually at that location when they checked the items out. This list doesn't count what somebody in Burlington or Janesville thought of our books - only patrons at your local branch!
"There's only one Patterson book on the list?"
Okay, admission: If a series had multiple items on the list, I only included the most popular one. The numbers might be slightly fudged, but that's in service of showing you as many different stories as we can. You all contain multitudes, not just endless Danielle Steel novels, and we want to highlight that! (Similarly, I've left off the Hot Movies and Hot Books from the lists. Trust me, y'all loved them...but you can probably guess that people loved checking out The Substance and Conclave without them showing up on every single list!)
Now, without further ado - the most popular adult materials at each KPL location!
Adults come to the Discovery Bus for books in every genre, from mystery and horror to romance and inspiration. What ties them all together? They all come in gorgeous large print!
James Patterson and Danielle Steel were the big throughlines for Northside adults in 2025 - if we included everything you checked out, they'd be half the list! Other thrillers made the grade, though, along with a few surprises.
Adults at Simmons have taste that varies wildly, from heavy-duty history nonfiction to high-school classics to thrillers written by former presidents. We loved seeing what they were into, and we hope you will, too!
Colleen Hoover and Frieda McFadden scored big with Southwest adults, who checked out several books by each. We resisted the desire to include all of them so you could take a look at the other novels that caught patrons' attention.
Fans of the Pop Asia collection at Uptown feasted this year! Urban fiction hit it big, too, but the biggest winner of all was a little game called Life.
