Additional Accessibility
The scan stations at the Southwest and Northside Neighborhood Libraries have the ability to transcribe scanned documents into audio files or translate into other world languages.

About Microfilm Scanners
The Southwest Library Branch has two STimaging Viewscan 4 Microfilm Scanners available for public use. The microfilm scanners allow for viewing, downloading, printing, and emailing of microfilm and microfiche.
Kenosha News Archived Microfilm
The Southwest Neighborhood Library hosts one of the only archives of the Kenosha News from June 19, 1895 - September 2020. Other local archived newspapers such as the Kenosha Telegraph are also available.
Research Requests and Assistance
Public Library staff are available to assist in using the microfilm machines and may also assist with Kenosha News research by request.
- All guests and patrons are welcome to use the microfilm collection in person
- Wisconsin residents may email ask@mykpl.info to request specific page scans
- Non-Wisconsin residents may email ask@mykpl.info to submit up to three simultaneous article research requests for $10.00. The fee must be paid via mail by check or money order before delivery. Checks should be made out to Kenosha Public Library, and sent to 7979 38th Avenue, Kenosha, Wi, attn: Adult Services.
Specialty Photo Scanners
The Southwest Neighborhood Library hosts two specialty scan stations: The Epson Perfection v850 Pro and the Epson FastFoto FF-680W.
Epson Perfection v850 Pro
The Epson Perfection v850 is a high quality scanner for a variety of archival material including:
- 35mm slides
- 35mm film strips
- Negatives
- Medium format film (1 frame up to 6 x 20cm)
- 4" X 5" film (1 frame)
Eight different film holders are available for use to accommodate a variety of material sizes and amounts. Scanned materials can be printed, emailed and saved in a variety of formats.
Epson FastFoto FF-680W
The Epson Fastfoto can scan hundreds of photos at a maximum rate of one photo per second at 300 DPI. Scanner features include
- Auto enhancement
- Color restoration
- Red-eye reduction
- De-skew
- Crop
- Rotate
Scanned materials can be printed, emailed and saved in a variety of formats.
